#23 “Sea, Swallow Me“ by Laura Kung

How does one surface, from a sea of sorrow? These songs have held my hand through the motions of heartbreak, love and longing. I began my playlist with water: a memory of staring into the abyss of the Pacific from the cliffs of Point Reyes (where I took this photo), which was a moment when my soul tore open. Like an abyss, love tears your soul open. I ended with Arooj Aftab’s intimate Baghon Main, who sings about unfulfilled love, empty swings swinging in a garden breeze. Healing is a winding road.
